A small Brighton team that builds what it designs

Six of us, a workshop in the Portslade area, and garden rooms since 2015. The person who surveys your garden stays involved throughout.

How it started

Ben trained as a carpenter and spent over a decade on renovations and extensions around Sussex. Then friends started asking him for somewhere to work that didn't mean losing a bedroom. He liked the idea of a small building that could change how a home works.

We started as a general carpentry business in 2012, built our first garden rooms in 2015, and gradually made them our focus. Hannah came from project administration. Between us, we care as much about keeping you informed as about getting the joinery right.

We most enjoy building for people with a clear reason for wanting the space, even if they've no idea yet what it should look like. A designer who's been working at the kitchen table. Someone getting back into painting. A couple who need separate places to work.

How we work

Our own team designs, makes and installs your room. We use regular specialist partners for the electrical work, some groundworks and larger glazing. We organise their work, and you deal with us throughout.

The quote explains the whole build, and you see the design, materials and costs before you commit to anything. Our workshop is in the Portslade area. It's a working workshop rather than a showroom, so we meet you at home, and you're welcome to visit by appointment.

What we won't do

  • Hide necessary work outside the headline price
  • Recommend a room that takes over your garden
  • Take a deposit while key questions about your site are unresolved
  • Call anything soundproof or maintenance free without evidence
  • Take on a project outside our experience without saying so

You don't need a finished idea. Knowing what you want the room to do is enough.

Tell us your postcode, roughly what the room is for and a budget you're comfortable with. We'll call within two working days, and the survey is usually within one to two weeks.
