A room that opens onto the garden

The Retreat often has wider doors and a small canopy or deck, so you can sit inside or out on a mild evening. Mixed use is common too: an office during the week and somewhere to relax at weekends.

Its guide price is for a 4 × 3 m room with upgraded glazing and a small canopy. It’s built the same way as all our rooms, with an insulated floor, walls and roof, double glazing and a panel heater as standard.

Not a bedroom

Our standard garden rooms aren’t designed or offered as sleeping accommodation. Using an outbuilding as a bedroom also changes how planning and building regulations apply. There’s more on this in the FAQs.

Sizes

The Retreat is usually between 4 × 3 m and 6 × 4 m, measured on the outside. The usable floor inside is smaller once the walls are built. [TO CONFIRM: internal floor area of each size]

You don't need a finished idea. Knowing what you want the room to do is enough.

Tell us your postcode, roughly what the room is for and a budget you're comfortable with. We'll call within two working days, and the survey is usually within one to two weeks.
